Fifth grade students from Oakwood and Morningside elementary schools will help thousands of their peers connect with classical music through colorful drawings.
Under the direction of visual art specialist Eric Wangsgard, a handful of fifth-graders at both schools have created works of art to accompany a notable music number performed by the Utah Symphony. Their work will be seen by thousands of fifth-graders from across the state during the Symphony’s 5th Grade Concert Series.
Going along with the concerts theme, “Musical Mischief-Makers,” the artwork will be shown during Richard Strauss’ Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks to visually tell the story of the German peasant folk hero.
“We are pleased to have this collaboration with Erica and her talented students,” said Utah Symphony Education Manager Beverly Hawkins.
The Strauss piece and the artwork will also be a part of the Symphony’s Family concert series on April 21 and 25.
