Whittier Elementary marked World Autism Awareness Day with a special activity day for parents and families of students diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.
As the school is a hub for special education in the District, administrators and teachers at Whittier wanted to bring greater awareness to autism and laud the achievements of students diagnosed with it.
“Students did fun sensory activities with their families to celebrate what they can do and who they are in spite of their disabilities,” said Whittier principal Lynette Golze.
