It’s fitting that Reagan Everett scored the first run for Olympus High in their 11-8 win over Woods Cross last week.
The ‘Purple Game’ was, after all, a moment of high school competition paralleled with a unified effort to raise funds for cancer, with Reagan serving as the face of Olympus youth battling the disease.
The Purple initiative began last year with Reagan and her bout with brain cancer. She was born with a DNA gene mutation that significantly increases the likelihood of developing malignant tumors in young adulthood.
Despite her medical challenges Reagan remains competitive on the field, and she created the TitanTough21 Foundation to raise money for cancer research. Friday’s softball match was the culmination of weeklong efforts at Olympus High School to raise funds and support cancer patients.
