Schools throughout Granite School District are making gains in stopping and preventing chronic absenteeism.
The Every Day Counts Challenge encourages administrators and teachers to develop ideas and incentives to improve student attendance.
This year’s challenge was tough. Schools were up against really positive attendance numbers from last year, but they still found ways to improve. The top five schools with the most improved attendance are:
1st Place – Monroe Elementary
2nd Place – Stansbury Elementary
3rd Place – West Kearns Elementary
4th Place – Woodstock Elementary
5th Place – Truman Elementary
Each of the schools received cash awards to be used for recognizing and rewarding students, classrooms and the whole school for improved attendance.
