Dozens of Jackling Elementary students lately can be found in classrooms throughout the building long after school has ended.
With the help of three grants – 21st Century Grant, Intergenerational Poverty Grant, and Division of Workforce Services Grant – Jackling’s after school program has helped bolster attendance and grades for attending students. In fact, students in the program on average outperformed their peers by 4% in fluency and 7.75% composite as measured by DIBELS assessments.
Such success warranted a visit by representatives from various state offices and agencies.
After school programs like Jackling’s are providing a boost to students who seek additional help outside the classroom. The grants that allow these programs to operate are a huge benefit to our schools.
