Any school in the District would surely echo the sentiments of West Lake Jr. High staff in praising the efforts of parent volunteers.

Administrators and teachers at West Lake wanted to highlight the crucial support provided by several individuals who devote their time to students. Here’s what they have to say:

We are so excited to know that we can always count on our volunteers! You can find many of our parents volunteering in the lunchroom, garden, or main office; you can find many of them taking one of the many classes offered by the Family Center.   Our parent volunteers have been integral in creating a caring, cooperative, and collaborative environment.

For many of the parents being a volunteer is also a community affair and like stated before are integral to our school community. The parents are quickly identified by our students, and most appreciate everything they do. Some students view them as their own parents.

Many of our parents want to show that it is important for them to let the school know that they are a part of the community and that by working together with the school they can make West Lake a place where not just education but community is learned. Just like the teachers and staff give their time to teach their children, they want to give back through their time to the school.

Many of the parents have expressed that by being a volunteer, parents get to meet the faculty/staff and learn how the school works so when they have a problem they know whom to contact. On behalf of The Family Center and West Lake Junior High School, we want to thank ALL of our parent volunteers for everything they have done for our school.
