Customer Service Star(s) – Another great year of service

June 2015Granite Schools

Customer Service Star

This year we were flooded with Customer Service Star nominations from employees, parents and students.

There were so many that we couldn’t get through all of them. However, we sincerely appreciate all the messages we received about great Customer Service. On that note, here are a handful of nominations to close out the school year:

Marie Tomlinson – Principal Secretary, Bacchus Elementary

“She goes above and beyond daily to make Bacchus a welcoming place for students, parents and the staff.”

Jennifer Vargo – Bookkeeper, Kennedy Jr. High

“Not only is Mrs. Vargo an outstanding book keeper, but she is a team player both in and out of the office. She has helped a number of new financial secretaries set up their books and stepped in at other schools when a secretary was out for a period of time. She is positive and courteous in all her interactions with patrons, both on the phone and in person. She is supportive of teachers and helps them understand their financial guidelines. She cheers on our athletic teams, attends our student performances and is an outspoken supporter of all things Kennedy Junior High.”

Kelli Babbitt – Substitute Teacher

“One of our sixth grade teachers has been out for several months due to an unexpected major surgery. I am grateful as a colleague, and especially as a parent of a sixth grader at Bennion Elementary, that Ms. Babbitt has joined us—even just temporarily.  Ms. Babbitt has put in hours and hours unpaid for planning, meeting, and preparing; she even led the sixth grade students in several thoughtful acts of kindness for all of the teachers in the school for Teacher Appreciation Week.  Ms. Babbitt is a dedicated and caring person and we are so lucky that she came to us when we needed a talented teacher for our sixth grade.  Not many people take on sixth grade, let alone three class periods teaching math—and in the middle of the school year, no less.”

Brett Chamberlain & Dee Smith – Custodians, Granite Education Center

“They work very hard at preparing the different Auditoriums for meetings and workshops here at the GEC.  I see them take any assignment and do their best to make sure it is done right and to the expectations of those sponsoring the event.  They do it with a smile and no complaint.  It is a pleasure to work with such good people like the two of them!”

Julie Wilson – Principal, Bacchus Elementary

“I contacted Mrs. Wilson in hopes to meet with her and go over what we can do for my son. She wasted no time getting me in and sitting down with me. Mrs. Wilson not only understood exactly what I’ve been though, but also sympathized and went over her credentials and what she can do with my son. Third grade was a sad time for us because my son would cry every night before bed and in the morning before school that he didn’t want to go to school. I just wanted him to want to get up and go to school and enjoy himself and get the help he needed. Mrs. Wilson knew exactly what to do and told me what needed to happen. I drove home crying because for once someone understood us.

“One day he came home and said “mom, email my football schedule to Mrs. Wilson she loves football and said she would see about coming to one of my games.” I explained to my son that Mrs. Wilson was probably a very busy lady but I’d send it over to her. Mrs. Wilson showed up the next football game my son played. He spotted her and pointed her out to me and my heart dropped! My son couldn’t wait to get to school on Monday to give her a card he had made to thank her for coming to his game, he has never been excited to get to school, I was so happy for him.”

Is there someone you know who deserves to be recognized as the Customer Service Star? Send an email to customerservice@graniteschools.org and tell us about your experience.
