Students and staff at Mill Creek Elementary planted four new trees last week to honor a teacher who passed away early in the school year.
The trees were donated by the folks at Tree Utah, and will provide some welcome shade for generations of students to come. Read this statement from Principal Allison Banks regarding the trees:
“At the beginning of the school year, our beloved Maestra Alba passed away. Maestra Alba was an amazing educator whose love for the children was larger than her petite self. Her influence continues to be felt throughout our school with our Dual Language Immersion program that she was instrumental in bringing to Mill Creek. During this school year, one of our student teachers applied for a tree grant so that we could plant trees in honor of Maestra. Our students will be active participants in the tree planting process, learning how to care for our new trees.”
