Administrative Reports

Don Adams, Assistant Superintendent of Support Services, gave a report on School Security Enhancements to the board.

Mike Fraser, Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership and Improvement Services, presented a report on Network Initiatives to the board.

John Welburn, Assistant Superintendent of Educator Support & Development, gave a report on Professional Development Week to the board.

The board convened into an executive session.

Board Meeting

Reverence – Taylorsville High Madrigals

Recognition

The board recognized West Kearns Elementary fourth grade teacher Shantelle Ford as the 2015 Teacher of the Year.

The board recognized lead maintenance foreman Troy Anderson and other GSD Maintenance staff for their quick expertise in restoring power and network systems at Taylorsville High after an electrical outage shortly before the beginning of the school year. Other staff who assisted in fixing what was an otherwise dire situation include: Richie Jorgensen (Electrical), Steve Perkins (Electrical), Chuck Latham (Electrical), Steve Christensen (Compliance) , Jay Parks (HVAC) , Rick Tyler (HVAC) , Aaron Rapp (Fleet Maintenance), Jon Fasselin (Security Systems), Ken Francis (Information Technology), Rick Kruger (Information Technology), Brian Goldsberry (Information Technology), and Dale Pitkin (Information Technology).

Information Items

Donnette McNeill-Waters, Director of Human Resources, presented a Staffing Report to the board.

Steve Hogan, Director of Planning & Boundaries, presented recommended solutions from the Population Analysis Committee to the board.

Action Item

The board approved a second reading of amendments to Board Policies, Section II as presented by Doug Larson, Director of Policy & Legal Services.

    We heard that Kearns High was being torn down and re-built next year. Can you confirm whether this is true?

      There are currently no plans to rebuild Kearns High.
