Our Educator of the Week is James Moss Elementary 4th grade teacher Luann Banta.
“Luann has worked at James E. Moss for over 20 years. She has been an amazing 4th grade teacher who brought learning to life for all of her students.”
“Five years ago she became the full-time ESL teacher, developing her own materials and curriculum to pre-teach our ELL students the necessary skills so they could be successful in their regular classroom. “
“Luann is an Amazing ESL teacher and she has done it all while battling Liposarcoma. She has had chemotherapy for years and she continues to battle, all the while being the most well planned, student friendly, inviting and positive teacher around.”
In September Luann began a new round of chemotherapy treatments that prevent her from working prior to her official retirement in December. Although she technically is not at Moss Elementary anymore, her impact is still prevalent at the school.
“In my 31 years as an educator, I have never seen a better teacher, mentor and leader for others. She is inspiring to the students and to us all at James E. Moss.”
