During halftime of their major football rivalry game, student body officers from Olympus and Skyline walked out on the field together laughing and smiling.
For a brief moment, the acrimony between Titan and Eagle fans dissipated as the stadium’s loudspeakers announced the total count from the schools’ ‘Souper Bowl of Caring’ fundraiser efforts. All told, students from both schools raised $10,119.73 along with thousands of pounds of food to be donated to the Utah Food Bank.
That isn’t to say their efforts weren’t without a friendly competition. As the school with the most donated items, Skyline’s SBOs took home a aluminum can trophy while Olympus High’s SBO president and vice president were stuck wearing a ‘cone of shame’ for the rest of the game.
Region 5 PTA is inviting all Granite schools to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring. Hunger is a growing concern in Granite School District, and many families in our own community will benefit from school efforts.
