“I realized that I needed to come up with a fresh approach to making math more fun for my students, and what better way to do that than with dance.”
Granite Park Jr. High 8th grade math teacher Heather Francis sought for new approaches to help her students understand key math concepts. What developed was a series of engaging activities incorporating dance choreography into mathematics lessons.
Heather was named the first place winner in the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) Curious Classroom contest, an online competition for teachers designed to spotlight effective and original resources that foster curiosity in the classroom. Her classroom received Chromebooks and a Smart Board delivered directly from HMH.
