A play examining autism, loss and acceptance made its world high school debut in the Cottonwood High School little theater.
Written by Kennedy Center awardee Julie Jensen and adapted from Kathryn Erskines’s novel “Mockingbird,” the play follows Caitlin, an eleven-year-old autistic girl as she struggles to understand the world around her.
Jensen’s selection of Cottonwood High to debut the play came after theatre teacher Adam Wilkins reached out to her after seeing the play for himself.
“I saw the show and loved it,” Wilkins said. “I then reached out to the playwright and our reputation for outstanding performing arts at Cottonwood helped seal the deal for the debut.”
