PTA Awards 2016

This year’s PTA awardees may come from different backgrounds, but they all have one purpose in mind: to support students in Granite School District.

Two GSD educators – Brent Nelson of West Kearns Elementary and Gene Bechtold of Churchill Jr. High – received state PTA awards in addition to their region recognition.

Region 5 PTA leadership also recognized the increase in male volunteer engagement and the positive impact it’s having on students and volunteers throughout the district.

“Involvement” Awards

Morningside Elementary Block Walk – Becky Bowen, Coordinator

Churchill Jr. High Souper Bowl of Caring Movie Night – Sonya Miller, Coordinator

“Development” Awards

Fox Hills Elementary Great Artist Program – Diane Gilmore, Coordinator

Morningside Elementary STEM Fair – Shayna Barney & Chrystal Contreras, Coordinators

“Advocacy” Awards

Eastwood Elementary STEAM FEST – Julie Callahan, Coordinator

Linda Mariotti, Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning & Support

“Outstanding School Administrator” Awards

Trent Hendricks – Assistant Principal, Churchill Jr. High

Brent Nelson – Principal, West Kearns Elementary

“Outstanding Educator” Awards

Kerry Moore – Vocal Music & German, Cyprus High School
