Schools throughout the district are making gains in stopping and preventing chronic absenteeism.
The Every Day Counts Challenge encourages administrators and teachers to develop ideas and incentives to improve student attendance. This year’s competition was especially tough as schools were up against positive attendance numbers from last year.
The top five schools with the most improved attendance are:
1st Place – Woodrow Wilson Elementary
2nd Place – Silver Hills Elementary
3rd Place – Millcreek Elementary
4th Place – Rosecrest Elementary
5th Place – James Moss Elementary
Each of the winning schools will receive cash awards to be used for recognizing and rewarding students, classrooms and the whole school for improved attendance. Our thanks to Granite Education Foundation and United Way for their support.
