I’m not sure what age group/grade this is being presented to. Although I support abstinence, I believe it would beneficial to our children’s future to express the danger of having sex before marriage and what to do if they begin to feel intrested or begin having sex. I know that this is a huge topic and it is the parents responsibility to teach their own children. Some parents simply don’t talk about it I think that if it’s brought up in school it would open up more conversation and reassure our children that they can talk to some one an adult they trust.

In the 5th and 6th grades they do not discuss the specifics of sexuality but rather how their bodies are changing. From running the program at my school for 2 years, it is not sexual education but rather a program that focuses on all the changes that are occurring or have occurred in their bodies. A discussion on what it takes to create a child (sperm and egg) is done but it is very brief. I can’t seem to view these documents though, so I am not sure who is providing this or how they focus on maturation and how much it costs for the schools.
