This week’s Customer Service Star goes to Upland Terrace Elementary principal Jennifer Keil-Reed. This is an experience from a parent:
“[My son] is a high functioning boy with autism. We are returning to Upland Terrace this year to help him adjust to the students before junior high. I told Mrs. Reed to place him in the best class she felt would meet his needs. However, as the assignments came, I realized that the teacher might not be the correct match for him.”
“I felt nervous approaching Mrs. Reed, as I’d given her full permission to so as she saw best. Nonetheless, I needed to share my concerns with her. So I called and asked if I could come in.”
“She greeted me with a warm smile. She listened to my concerns as best I could articulate them. After I spoke she responded with empathy and almost related back my concerns better than I did. She said she would definitely make things right, and just to give her a couple of days to work things out.”
“Yesterday she called me with the changes she made, and it fits our needs perfectly. Most of all I appreciated her approachability, empathy and warmth.”
