Gifted/Advanced Learner Testing Window

September 2016Granite Schools

Granite School District’s advanced learner programs are provided to address the academic and emotional needs of students that have advanced content knowledge and skills and/or show evidence of extraordinary learning ability in one or more specific disciplines.

The testing window for placement in Granite School District’s Advanced Learner Programs is as follows:

  • Grades 3-6 – Monday, October 10 through Friday, December 9
  • Grades K-2 – Wednesday, January 4 through Friday, March 3

If you would like your child to participate in the Advanced Learner testing please notify your child’s school by Monday, October 24.

It is not necessary to have your child tested each year; however, children who want to be considered for placement in a third grade advanced learner cluster group must be tested in second grade.

Students in grades K-5 who would like to be considered for the Advanced Learning Center Programs must participate this year in the assessments. In addition, students entering junior high that are interested in taking GT classes must also be tested.

It is not necessary for students entering junior high that are registering for honors classes to be tested.

I would like to sign my daughter up for testing since she’s entering Junior high next year. Maya is a current student at Oakridge Elementary. The school secretary said I should contact the granite office to enroll Maya.

I would like the gifted program for all kids. Especially my daughter. It uses different methods of learning and more interesting activities that would benefit all students especially the ones who are challenged or bored at school. My older kids were in the programs. Are there winter activities also?

Any way to get into the summer programs without the testing.
