West Lake STEM Jr. High English teacher Jen Kellis has shouldered her responsibility as a department chair with apparent ease.
Working with a team completely new to the school and each other, Jen has managed to create a positive culture among the educators in her department. Above and beyond her regular duties, however, she looks for other ways to be of service.
From one West Lake staff member:
“For more than a week now, Jen has come down to the office at the end of each school day asking our administrative team, ‘What can I do to help?’ In these late afternoons she has shared valuable feedback from the teacher perspective that is helping us set up positive structures in the school.”
“[Before school started] we were in a time crunch to empty our gymnasium of pallets of items that needed to be placed into the newly renovated school. True to her form, Jen rolled up her sleeves and got to work.”
“She was in the building Friday, all of Saturday, and all of Sunday moving pallets and boxes; being an integral part of many miracles that allows for school to start the first day.”
Way to go, Jen!
