Our latest Customer Service Star is Redwood Elementary second grade teacher Kameron Monson. Here’s the story from another GSD employee:
“Earlier this month, I was attempting to enter Redwood’s north parking lot but a stalled vehicle was blocking the way. The van was positioned in a way that it was blocking both the right lane of southbound traffic, and the only entrance into Redwood’s parking lot and student drop-off zone.”
“By the time I arrived at Redwood, Kameron, who had arrived early to school to prepare for the day, had already pulled his car over to the stalled van and attempted to jumpstart the vehicle. The van’s engine had shut off while in the ‘drive’ position, and van’s electronic shifting mechanism was preventing putting it into neutral to push it out of the road and allow commuters to pass and parents to pull in to drop off students. Kameron suggested we try jumping it with my vehicle, so I pulled my car around while he moved his into a parking stall. Rather than head into the building to complete the lesson preparations that he had intended by arriving early, Kameron returned to the stranded patron and trouble-shot the next fifteen minutes of mechanical issues until we were finally able to get the van into neutral and move it safely into the parking lot.”
“Kameron Monson was not only first on the scene to offer assistance, but he remained on the scene until a successful resolution was achieved. Putting the needs of others ahead of the needs of one’s self, Kameron Monson demonstrated the altruistic character of our amazing teachers in Granite School District.”
