Granite School District has announced the expansion of elementary full-time Advanced Learner programs with the addition of two new Advanced Learning Center sites.
Beginning in the 2018-19 school year, students identified with high ability may qualify to attend Fox Hills Elementary, Morningside Elementary, West Kearns Elementary (Spanish dual immersion), West Valley STEM Elementary, or Woodstock Elementary.
Students currently attending West Kearns in grades 1-5 and Fox Hills/Morningside in grades 1 and 3-5 will continue to be bused to and served at their current location.
Students qualified through testing for first and third grade placement will be served based on the location of their neighborhood school. West Valley STEM and Woodstock will continue to add grades each year until all elementary grades are served within each school. West Kearns will continue to serve high ability students desiring to learn a second language in a dual immersion environment.
Students not currently residing in Granite District are welcome to test for the Advanced Learning Center program and will be offered placement if space is available after all qualified Granite applicants have been placed.
If your child missed the opportunity to participate in Advanced Learner testing and you would like them to test for possible placement, please call 385-646-4620 or complete the online testing request on the Gifted and Talented page
A general informational meeting for parents and students of potential first and third graders or others interested in additional information will be held at West Valley STEM and Woodstock Elementary on the dates listed below. This is wonderful. I have taught in the Gifted and Talented Program (DEEP) in Davis District. I was the GT rep at Woodstock for 4 years. I want to be a part of this new adventure!
