The positive work being done in Granite’s 30 Community Centers was highlighted in the first post of Utah Education Network’s new Utah’s Promising Practices website.
These 30 Centers offer English as a Second Language (ESL) and Basic Computer Skills classes along with serving as hubs for community services.
The recipients of these programs have been parents that due to many life circumstances in their countries of origin never had the chance to be instructed in English, basic computer abilities, or parenting classes.
The end results are showing that it is absolutely necessary for the parents to be familiar with computers and the English language so they can assist their children with school work. Check it out:
