Our goal is to enhance and expand the college-bound culture in Granite School District. We want students to know that education after high school is achievable, accessible, and affordable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Do We Do?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Granite School District has partnered with Utah State University&#8217;s Science, Technology, Arithmetic, Reading Students (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usu.edu\/utahstars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USU STARS!<\/a>) to be able to implement the GEAR UP program in qualifying \u00a0schools. For 2025-2026, GEAR UP (Cohort 6) is serving 8<sup>th<\/sup> grade students in the following junior high schools:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Brockbank STEM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eisenhower Jr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Granite Park Jr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kearns Jr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kennedy Jr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Matheson Jr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valley Jr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>West Lake STEM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program is cohort-based which means that we work with the entire grade band of the graduating class of 2031 at our participating schools, starting in 7th&nbsp;grade through high school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How Do We Help?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">USU STARS! GEAR UP in Granite School District helps schools help their students. Tutoring, mentoring, after-school and summer programs help students improve school success. Career exploration, field trips, and college visits&nbsp;open up&nbsp;new possibilities. Academic planning events and financial workshops involve families.
