Junior High\/High School<\/strong>– Mentors meet with students once a quarter to review academic progress, set goals, share upcoming events\/resources, and encourage personal and academic success. If the student needs additional academic support, the mentor will reach out to the student’s counselor and parent.<\/p>\n\n\n The beginning of Native American Education began with colonization of America. The federal government created \u201cIndian Schools\u201d as a way of dealing with the education of Native Americans. Legislation in 1972 created the Indian Education Act, which established the Office of Indian Education and The National Advisory Council on Indian Education. These offices provide federal funds for American Indian and Alaska Native education programs in public school systems throughout the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In order for school districts to receive funding to provide services to native students, we are required to collect a 506 form from each student.
