What Is ETEP?

The Educational Technology Endorsement Program (ETEP) is an intensive 2-year professional development program provided by Granite’s Educational Technology Department. Through instructor-led classes, independent learning modules, and in-school coaching, participating teachers explore ways to leverage classroom technology in a student-centered approach to increase instructional effectiveness and student achievement. Through this program, participating educators will develop the competencies required to receive their Educational Technology Endorsement.

Requirements

  • 8 blended courses over 2 years
  • 30 hours of a combination of in-class and independent learning time per course
  • 1 coaching cycle with school technology coach per course
  • Reflective journaling to show growth and application of learning throughout the program
  • Submission of artifacts and reflections to show
  • achievement of required competencies
  • Willingness to adapt teaching methodology to implement student-centered and 21st century instructional practices

Credit Information

  • 2 USBE or SUU credit hours per course = 16 credits
  • SUU credit is $21 per credit ($42 per course) or USBE credit is free
  • USBE Educational Technology Endorsement can be earned upon completion of the program based on demonstration of competencies in instructional practice

Registration Information

  • Each cohort is accepting the first 24 applicants
  • Additional applicants for each cohort will be placed on a waiting list
  • Applicants will be notified of their admittance into an ETEP cohort shortly thereafter

We will be offering another Canvas for Elementary professional learning cohort for the 2022-2023 school year and are looking for growth-minded elementary teachers who are willing to implement Canvas in their classrooms (for teachers who have not previously participated in this program). This is a paid cohort with specific expectations for participants. Listed below are some of the details about this opportunity.

Purpose

Teachers will learn how to use Canvas effectively to support student learning and family engagement.

Expectations

  • Use Canvas for instruction and communication for all content areas.
  • Build Canvas courses according to the GSD Canvas Expectations and Style Guide and adjust courses based on quarterly feedback to demonstrate growth and understanding.
  • Participate in Canvas professional learning which includes:
    • At least 16 hours of summer professional learning (two half day in person + asynchronous learning modules)
    • Monthly professional learning and collaboration with school and district tech coaches.
  • Provide ongoing feedback on Canvas experience.
  • Be a Canvas Teacher leader in 2023-2024 to support school-based Canvas implementation.

Stipend

$800 per quarter based on completion of expectations and demonstration of Canvas usage and growth.

(The STS and LMETS titles were recently changed to reflect their role in supporting teachers and students with the use of technology to enhance learning.)

Technology Coach (Elementary)

Technology Coaches are either assigned to one school or share their time between two schools. Technology Coaches address technology work order needs as the frontline support and escalate issues as needed. Each Technology Coach has been a classroom teacher, with many of them having their Educational Technology Endorsement. They work with the staff and students at their schools to effectively use technology with students to Engage them in learning, Enhance learning with options that aren’t possible without the use of technology, and Extend learning in ways that relate to the student’s real world.

Library Technology Coach (Secondary)

Library Technology Coaches are assigned full time to a junior high or high school. A Library Technology Coach oversees the school’s day to day operation of the library, as well as coaching in the effective educational integration of technology and information literacy. Many of them also serve as the frontline tech support, while some secondary schools have another person assigned to that task. They work with the staff and students at their schools to effectively use technology with students to Engage them in learning, Enhance learning with options that aren’t possible without the use of technology, and Extend learning in ways that relate to the student’s real world.

This camp features five days of technology-based learning fun, provided through the GEAR UP Grant for 9th grade students at specific schools.

Gear Up Utah 2021 Summer Camp Signup - Header

Current 9th Grade students at the following schools are eligible to attend:

  • Cottonwood High School
  • Cyprus High School
  • Eisenhower Jr. High School
  • Granger High School
  • Hunter High School
  • Kearns High School

GEAR-UP Summer Camp Details

  • Ed. Tech. teachers will guide students through experiences with building and programming Edison Robots, creating wearables with circuitry, designing toys of the future, and building, programming, and flying drones.
  • Classes will be held from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm on Monday June 14th – Friday June 18th.
  • Classes will be held at The Teaching and Learning Center at 5300 West Cherrywood Lane, West Valley City.
  • Social Distancing and masking guidelines will be followed, and students per room will be limited.
  • Buses from the student’s home school can be provided if needed.
  • Students who participate this year will be eligible for the program again next year.
