Public Notice – LEA-specific Licenses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Granite School District employs educators holding an LEA-specific license or endorsement as detailed in Utah Administrative Rule R277-301 Educator Licensing<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

License Definitions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The following designations apply to educator licenses, license areas of concentration, and content endorsements. For more information please see Utah Administrative Rule R277-301 Educator Licensing<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professional<\/strong> License<\/strong><\/summary>
\n

The license-holder has met all requirements established by the state of Utah to be employed as an educator in the area of licensure. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Associate License<\/strong><\/summary>
\n

The license-holder has met the minimum requirements established by the state of Utah to be temporarily employed as an educator in the area of licensure for three years. To continue to be employed as an educator beyond three years, the license-holder must meet the requirements for a Professional license<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

LEA-specific<\/strong><\/summary>

The license-holder has met the requirements established by the Granite School District Board of Education in board policy VIII.A.33 to be employed as an educator in the area of licensure in Granite School District.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

What is the Alternate Pathway to Professional Educator License (APPEL)?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The program provides the experiences, coursework, and support for the educator to earn a professional license in Elementary, Secondary, Special Ed, or CTE areas. Educators teach in the content area while working through the APPEL program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The associate educator license (AEL) is available for individuals who want to teach in Utah that have not yet completed an approved educator preparation program. An associate license enables individuals who do not currently hold a Utah professional license but would like to teach while working toward a professional educator license. Associate educator licenses are valid for three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You complete requirements for a professional educator license with the Granite School District APPEL support team.     Apply for AEL HERE<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Master’s Degree with License<\/strong>
    Graduate degree that leads to a professional Utah educator license. Note: Avoid master’s degree programs designed for individuals that already have a license.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Graduate Certificate in Teaching<\/strong>
    University post-baccalaureate or post-masters program designed to meet the requirements for a professional teacher license. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
