Computer – Viewing Student Attendance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Student Tile:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When looking at your student\u2019s tile on the Portal page, you can see a quick glance at their attendance for the quarter for their classes. It will display per period the number of times a student has had an excused absence, unexcused absence, and tardy codes entered for that course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you click on the number of absences, it will take you into the Absences view:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Number of absent codes your student has had for the school year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Number of other attendance codes your student has had for the year, tardy, tardy way late, release, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Total of full days possible, attended, absent and enrollment dates for your student.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Any absent or other attendance codes on your student\u2019s record for the year will display here. Present codes will not display on this screen.\n

    1. You can upload excuse notes directly into Focus from this area by hovering over the Excuse Note column, and uploading, scanning, or taking a photo of an excuse note.\n

      1. Note: Excuse notes still have to be approved by the office. The Note Status will notify you if it is pending, accepted, or denied.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Student Dropdown View:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Click on the dropdown arrow for the student you would like to view their attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        You have two options to view your student\u2019s attendance. You can click on Absences, which will take you to the Summary page that you can also access through the student tile or the Attendance screen which takes you into the Chart view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Report Timeframe: This is the dates that will display on the screen. You can use the scroll bar at the bottom of the table to scroll over to other dates. You can also update the report timeframe to reflect the full year or quarter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Update: If you choose to update the report timeframe, you must click Update before the changes will be applied.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Absent Codes: Absence codes will appear in red. Tardy codes will appear in yellow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. Present Code: Focus now has present codes in the system. You can see when a teacher has marked your student present. If you see a ? in this field, it means your student was assumed present and the teacher did not take attendance for that course.

          *If a student was excused for one or two periods, but not the whole day, then the Daily Attendance will display as Present. A student must have an absence code in all periods for that day to be counted as absent for the Daily Attendance row*

        5. Blank: If your student has a box without information, this means that the class did not attend this school day. Usually this will be for our students on A\/B day rotations, but it could also display if your student dropped a class and changed into a new class during the quarter\/semester.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
