Introduction to the PLC Model (pptx)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-bddb0e52-f93b-46bf-90c8-23868e652f31\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/PLC-Model-2021-01-06-1.pdf\">1b. Printable <strong>Model for Content and Grade Level PLCs Practices (PDF)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Grade and content level PLCs<\/span><\/strong> provide two essential functions.&nbsp; First, team members engage in common planning.&nbsp; Second, team members problem solve student learning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Common Planning Time.&nbsp; <\/strong><em>This PLC cycle normally happens in \u201cclumps\u201d of time rather than weekly, such as during SNAD days and\/or specific days where larger chunks of time can be reserved.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-faf26117-cb25-45ff-8505-493f9ba10d93\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/2-Prioritizing-and-Unpacking-the-Standards-PLC-Common-Planning_-Parts-1-and-2.pptx\"><strong>2. Prioritizing and Unpacking the Standards (pptx)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Utilizing our knowledge of the Utah Core Education Standards and being cognizant of how we pace student learning, identify which standards will be the focus of our upcoming (next) Unit of Study.&nbsp; Considering our students learning histories (and background knowledge), integrate additional standards needing continued focus and support.&nbsp; Unpack the standards by clearly articulating our shared understanding of proficiency, thus, creating our learning goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-03477e1d-c1ff-4864-9f05-bd3b7f3209c9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/3-Scaffold-the-Learning-Targets-Progression-PLC-Planning_-Part-3.pptx\"><strong>3. Design Units of Instruction #3 (pptx)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anticipating that our students will learn at different rates, <strong><em>what intervention and extension strategies<\/em><\/strong> will we have ready?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-1ef22051-4323-4683-8fcb-2a5ebd564fb5\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/8-Evaluate-our-own-Planning-PLC-Common-Planning_-Part-6-.pptx\"><strong>8. Evaluate our Common Planning Time (pptx)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we are closing in with the design of our instructional units, formally ask ourselves: Do I have a better understanding of how to plan and design my instruction?&nbsp; Did we create and make available critical documents that I can refer to and from which we can continue to collaborate (e.g., revision and refinement of documents on a shared drive or platform)? Will the things we\u2019ve worked on and reached consensus help us when it is time to problem solve student learning?&nbsp; These three questions are the core reasons why we have common planning time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-d4e308b6-7de6-42f2-ba40-c8da8e695980\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/9-Daily-Classroom-Experience.pptx\"><strong>9. Daily-Classroom-Experience (pptx)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Using our Unit of Study to plan our daily lessons and engage our students in their learning<\/strong>. The teacher, being guided by their Unit of Study and using their expertise, crafts engaging Tier 1 lessons that are differentiated, and culturally relevant to meet the needs of their classroom.&nbsp; We must be certain that each week we will check for understanding with common formative assessments, exit tickets, or other types of assessments so that this information can be shared with our colleagues to problem solve and extend student learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Problem Solving Student Learning.&nbsp; <\/strong><em>This PLC cycle should occur weekly.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-0dec0290-4e29-42cd-898f-774ab0719cdf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/10-Identify-Student-Learning-Errors-PLC-Student-Learning_-Part-1.pptx\"><strong>10. Identify Student Learning Errors (pptx)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How do we know if our students are learning?&nbsp; Weekly, review student data (e.g., CFAs, checks for understanding, assessments, assignments, etc.).&nbsp; Identify the learning that is occurring and for whom.&nbsp; Identify mistakes, language and learning errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-e1580ad3-4114-4a4b-8a7b-987e06c749ca\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/11-Strategize-How-to-Respond-to-Student-Learning-PLC-Student-Learning_-Part-2.pptx\"><strong>11. Strategize How to Respond to Student Learning<\/strong> (pptx)<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Depending on the subject matter and other classroom and individual circumstance, some students readily demonstrate proficiency while other students may not.&nbsp; Planning our interventions and extensions is, by its nature, <strong><em>reactive<\/em><\/strong> or a \u201crepairing\u201d of the learning that could have occurred.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What strategies will I use during my upcoming classroom instruction to guide my students toward proficiency (interventions), to retain and reinforce the learning that has occurred, and teach up by expanding their learning toward the opportunity for level 4 proficiency (extensions)?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-3b19ad3f-0a87-4193-b32e-1f2cabf22103\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/12-Improve-the-Learning-Environment-and-Experience-PLC-Student-Learning-Part-3.pptx\"><strong>12. Improve the Learning Environment &amp; Experience (pptx)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Over time, we should become more aware of our students learning styles, interests, and histories.&nbsp; In the process of \u201cgetting to know\u201d each of our students, we are more able to tailor our instruction towards them; working with our strengths while simultaneously decentering ourselves from the learning experience.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whereas interventions and extensions are reactive to student learning, improving the learning environment is <strong><em>proactive<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; How can I improve student ownership of their learning?&nbsp; How can I integrate better levels of support and earlier release into my future instruction?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-fc52e215-bcf1-4af7-808b-a60f78179047\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/13-Commit-to-Adapt-and-Improve-Instruction-Interventions-and-Extensions-PLC-Student-Learning-Part-4.pptx\"><strong>13. Commit to improve Tier I instruction and implement the agreed Tier I Interventions and Extensions (pptx)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of each weekly PLC Problem Solving session, team members commit to agreed Tier 1 Interventions and Extensions and they commit to specific actions (e.g., usually \u201cbaby steps\u201d) to explore and improve the effectiveness of their daily lessons.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-c5aeadf7-c731-46b8-8348-c876bae67acd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/14-Evaluate-our-Understanding-of-our-Students-Learning-PLC-Student-Learning-Part-5.pptx\"><strong>14. Evaluate our Understanding of Students Learning<\/strong> (pptx)<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Periodically, we should reflect on what we are accomplishing.&nbsp; Three questions get at the heart of why we get together to problem solve student learning: Do I know my students better?&nbsp; Do I have a better understanding of how to teach them; how to model, scaffold, differentiate, and support their learning?&nbsp; Do I have a better understanding of how to structure their classroom environment?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Special PLC Circumstances.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-fa51efde-abbd-4c52-a789-5c66b4996e2f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/researchevaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2021\/01\/15-PLC-Methods-for-Singleton-Teachers.pptx\"><strong>15.
