While enrolled in sSTEP, students participate in training including academic support, peer relationships, conflict resolution, decision making, safe school issues, and drug and alcohol awareness.<\/p>\n Benefits include utilizing a range of school and community resources for students and their families; identifying academic obstacles and offering possible recommendations to ensure success of the student; supporting students= use of functional alternatives to violence and substance abuse; offering support and enabling a successful transition back to school or other alternative placement; and assisting students in vocational interests and goals.<\/p>\n Referrals are from the Granite School District Screening Committee for students who have violated School Safety Policies and\/or Drug & Alcohol Policies.<\/p>\n Administrator: Carol Cabanillas The Turning Point Program is for students who have been placed out of their home schools because they have committed a safe-school violation. In this program, students receive intensive academic services in reading and math, as well as a transition program to guide the students back to the home school successfully; social skills training is provided by the classroom teacher.<\/p>\n Allows students to continue their education in a controlled environment while receiving specialized services to prepare them to return to the regular classroom.<\/p>\n Students attend by referral through Student Services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Provides school safety programs and a variety of prevention and intervention services for students and their families.
