Li’l Feathers is Granite School District’s Native American & Alaskan Native after school program and is overseen by Ronda DuVall, Community & Cultural Specialist for the Urban Indian Center. Li’l Feathers meets every Thursday at Kearns High School. Students participate in cultural activities such as learning traditional dances, arts and crafts, meeting with Native guest speakers, and going on fieldtrips. Every year Li’l Feathers does the following events in addition to their regular Thursday meetings:
- School Year Kick Off/August
- Halloween Literacy Night/October
- Thanksgiving Feast/November
- Christmas Drive/December
- Prince & Princess Pageant/March
- Powwow/May
Li’l Feathers is open to all Native students, Junior High and High School students are welcome to come and participate or volunteer to get community service hours to make themselves more competitive for scholarships and other opportunities. Parents are encouraged to check their email regularly and sign up for text alerts through the district’s Parent Portal. Our program will primarily use email and text to communicate with families about upcoming events.
