Superintendent Message Regarding Data Security Incident
Granite District Employees,
Please take a moment to watch this video from Superintendent Horsley with some updates about the recent data security incident.
Some key takeaways from the video include:
- Recognizing the additional stress, frustration, and time impact this may have for some of our employees, the District will provide time or flexibility to those who need it.
- Contract employees may have up to a day that can be used before winter recess, December 20th. This will be marked as Paid Time Off day on their timecard.
- For hourly employees, we will be asking supervisors to be flexible with granting time off during hours they may regularly be working so they can take care of what they may need.
- Each financial institution will have different recommendations regarding the security threat and stolen data. For some employees, this may mean changing their bank account. Please contact your bank and follow their advice.
- Be sure to review the FAQ page on the website (Google Document), we’ll update that page as we get more info. It’s linked from the homepage.
- This was a sophisticated cyber attack, and it’s taken time to determine the scope and who was affected. We apologize that we don’t have all the answers right now. We’ll get information out about credit and identity theft monitoring services as soon as possible.
- Again, we regret the actions of the threat actors and the extra burden this has placed on families leading up to the holiday season.
