Information Item
Steve Hogan, director of Planning & Boundaries, presented a report on current Population Analysis Studies. One member of the public addressed the board on the Bangerter Corridor South Study with concerns about a potential school closure. Open house meetings for all studies will be held in September.
Action Item
The board approved a recommendation to consider the closure of Sandburg Elementary or Jackling Elementary as part of the Sandburg/Jackling/Hunter Population Analysis Study. Three members of the public addressed the board with concerns of a potential school closure. This action simply adds the possibility of closure as a potential solution to be explored as part of the study.
The board approved a second reading of amendments to the Fees in the Public Schools policy as presented by Doug Larson, director of Policy & Legal Services.
The board approved a second reading of amendments to the Implementation of Standards & Objectives policy as presented by Doug Larson, director of Policy & Legal Services.
The board led a discussion on the Grade Reconfiguration Process and directed district administration to bring the topic as an information item in next month’s board meeting.

The Population Analyses seem to include leaving 6th grade in the elementary schools. There has also been talk of moving 6th grade to middle school in the Taylorsville network. Does that decision play a role in boundary changes/school closures? Has the decision been made to leave 6th grade in elementary?
