Grade Reconfiguration Information

May 2024 Update:

During the May 7, 2024 Board of Education meeting, the board approved K-5/6-8 grade reconfiguration in the Granger, Cyprus and Hunter Jr. networks.

This change will be implemented at the start of the 2025/2026 school year. It will not affect the upcoming 2024/2025 school year. You should receive more information about the transition this fall from your local school.

March 2024 Update:

During the March 12, 2024 Board of Education meeting, the board approved a first reading for K-5/6-8 grade reconfiguration in the Granger, Cyprus, and Hunter Jr. networks.

Notice of public hearing for the May 7, 2024 Board of Education meeting (PDF), which will include a second reading on reconfiguration.

If the second reading is approved at the May 7th board meeting, this change will be implemented at the start of the 2025/2026 school year. For the 2024/2025 school year, 6th graders will remain at their respective elementary schools. If approved, parents should look for more information on the transition to the new grade configuration in the fall of 2024.

Title: GRADE RECONFIGURATION PROCESS

Organization: Granite SCHOOL DISTRICT

Step 1 — Community Interest: An informational meeting is held to review the public input process. Completed April 2023.

Step 2: District representatives meet with school community councils in a network and put together an informational packet on reconfiguration. Completed Fall 2023.

Step 3: The district conducts a survey to gather community feedback. School communities then gather to discuss survey results and other pertinent information. Completed Winter 2023.

Step 4: Reconfiguration information is presented during a board of education meeting. A formal recommendation from district administration is presented to the board. Approved by Board March 2024.

Step 5: Schools will begin making preparations for grade reconfiguration to be implemented. Implementation will happen in fall of 2025.
