Thank you for your dedication to improving student outcomes through high-quality instruction. Your efforts to increase effective instruction is having a positive impact. Research consistently shows that effective teaching is the key to student success. Schmoker (2012) emphasizes that good instruction should include a clear learning objective, modeling in small steps, guided practice, and checks for understanding. Your commitment to refining your instructional practices and believing in every student’s ability to succeed makes a profound impact.
It impresses me to see the great teachers in the Granite School District who work together to define and implement effective teaching strategies, who are creating an environment where all students, regardless of background, have the opportunity to thrive. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and I am deeply grateful for all that you do.
This week I want to recognize one specific individual for the amazing things she does for her school. She is Julie Wilson, principal at Vista Elementary. Here’s what one of her teachers had to say about her:
“I feel fortunate to work under the leadership of our principal, Julie Wilson. Her dedication to creating a positive, supportive environment for both students and staff is truly inspiring. Her vision, kindness, and commitment to excellence make our school a fantastic place to learn and grow. I’m grateful for her guidance and for the opportunity to be part of this amazing team. As the principal of our Dual Language Immersion school, she has created a welcoming and inclusive environment where all cultures are celebrated and respected. Her support for both students and teachers is unwavering, and she consistently encourages activities that connect students with the Spanish language in meaningful ways. Mrs. Wilson is always ready to embrace new ways to support language development and enhance the learning experience. Her leadership has made a lasting impact on our school, and she truly deserves to be recognized for her dedication and hard work.”
