I am a father of eight children. I have grown to appreciate the collective effort of all those involved in helping my kids grow and develop over the years in their time in education. It is thanks to amazing teachers that my own children have found success. I hope the teachers realize the impact they have had on my own children. I also hope they understand how powerful it has been for me as a parent as we worked together to meet the needs of each of these individual kids. As we work together, teachers have helped guide me to effectively support learning. I have seen how they have taken insight from me as I have been able to provide feedback and information about my students. This dual-capacity building framework is a powerful tool that ultimately benefits the growth of students. Karen Mapp is a community engagement expert from Harvard, and she has taught a great deal about this framework. I have experienced it effectively employed, and it has resulted in student success. I so appreciate all the educators who work so hard to engage effectively with families.
This week I want to recognize one specific individual for the amazing things she does for her school. She is Sarah Wall at West Lake STEM Jr. Here’s some of what a teacher said about her:
“I would like to take this opportunity to share my heartfelt admiration for our principal. Her unwavering dedication and tireless work ethic truly set her apart as an exceptional leader, and she brings a vibrant energy to our school community. Her presence in any room is uplifting, and we are incredibly fortunate to have such a compassionate and inspiring leader guiding us. She consistently ensures that everything necessary for our success is accomplished with efficiency and care. Her infectious smile and genuine kindness create a welcoming atmosphere that resonates throughout our school. Her bubbly personality and thoughtful approach foster an environment that is just what our students need!”
