Teachers in Granite School District are the heart of student success, and their dedication to refining instruction is invaluable in shaping bright futures. Improving student achievement by improving instruction is a powerful pathway to realizing a school’s vision of high academic expectations. Along the way, teachers are “planning for and creating short-term wins” as they strive to positively influence end-of-year assessments (Kotter, 1995, p. 61). The practice of monitoring progress and celebrating achievements fosters a culture of “continuous reflection” for ongoing “improvement” (Janney et al., 2005, p. 9). Effective teachers embrace various instructional methods, assessing their effectiveness through short-term, formative assessments. This commitment to growth strengthens their instructional impact, ultimately leading to improved academic outcomes for students. The amazing teachers in our district refine their craft so that more students thrive in their classroom. Their hard work, resilience, and dedication to student learning deserve our deepest gratitude. I am so impressed by the impact our teachers have on the students as they learn and ultimately in the lives of students as they take the newfound skills and abilities into the world. Thank you, teachers, for all you do for our students in Granite.
Our district’s principals are like superheroes in disguise—tirelessly meeting students’ diverse needs, often without a spotlight. But that changes via these weekly recognitions! I want to celebrate these incredible leaders. This week let’s recognize Brittney Ambrose, principal at Rosecrest Elementary. Here’s some of what her teachers said about her:
“Brittney Ambrose has been wonderful to work with. She is an outstanding leader in our community, fostering a culture of excellence and inclusivity within our school. Brittney not only set high standards for academic achievement but also prioritize the well-being of students and staff and knows each student and family by name. Brittney promotes collaborative PLCs and values our judgement. She empowers teachers to share best practices and data-driven insights, ensuring continuous improvement. Brittney goes above and beyond to build strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider community, creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to succeed all without an assistant principal to help her. She juggles it all with a positive attitude and it shows in our school community.
Brittney has one of the toughest jobs! She aims to please everyone at our school: parents, teachers, and, of course, students. This can be difficult at times, but she does her best. She will always take the time to understand everyone with patience. She is always present at our school, in the lunchroom, on recess duty, making sure the little ones get on the bus, or walking around the halls checking in on students. As a teacher, you want to know she is doing all she can to make our jobs easier. As a parent, you want to know she is doing all she can to make our school safe, effective, and fun. She obviously loves our students and wants the best for ALL of them. I am very grateful to have her as my principal. 😊 “
