The teachers in Granite are working so hard to help every student reach proficiency. The amazing efforts teachers make to help every single student are recognized. I know from personal experience the difficulty teachers encounter on a daily basis as they work to meet the needs of every student. My hope is that teachers feel safe enough to try a new method or approach things a bit differently to see if it will work. I know I try to do my best each morning in my class. Sometimes, it doesn’t seem to connect with all kids. I want to encourage us all to try something different to see if it will connect with that one unique student. This is a personal business and sometimes we all need a different approach. Thank you so much for all you do to help each and every student.
This week I want to recognize one specific individual for the amazing things he does for his school. He is Danny Stirland, principal at Kearns High. Here’s some of what a teacher said about him:
“High School principals take a licking and keep on ticking. Ever since I came here last school year, Danny has been very visible in the hallways, accessible in his office (or the hallways :), caring and fair. He appears even keel, though on the tough days I know he must be feeling it inside, but he shows a calm and cool attitude exterior. He knows us all by name and cares enough about us to support us 100 percent when we want to try new things. I must say his entire focus as our principal is student and teacher success while welcoming all other stakeholder’s input. He truly cares about Kearns High being the best we can be.”
