I am continually inspired by the unwavering commitment of our teachers to meet the diverse needs of their students. As Rick DuFour emphasized, “Helping all students learn requires a collaborative and collective effort.” This dedication manifests in their relentless pursuit to enhance instructional practices through reflective inquiry and data-driven decision-making within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). By embracing a collaborative culture, educators create an environment where continuous improvement thrives, leading to significant gains in student achievement. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional educators of the Granite School District for their steadfast commitment to our students’ growth and success.
This week I want to recognize one specific individual for the amazing things she does for her school. She is Crista Holt, principal at Orchard Elementary. Here’s some of what a teacher said about her:
“Crista has been an amazing administrator to work with. I have been impressed with her level of presence in the building. She puts a lot of effort into creating a positive community within her school. Also- I have been impressed with how knowledgeable she is about special education laws and procedures. While she is incredibly supportive, she does not shy away from making hard decisions and reminding everyone of the policies and procedures in place. In every meeting I attend with her, she is always advocating that we work in the best interest of the child, even if that child will not be with us next year with the school closure. She has been an absolute asset to Orchard Elementary and will continue to be wherever she is next year.”
