Granite School District is organized into eight networks, each centered around a comprehensive high school and supported by its feeder junior high and elementary schools. This layered system is further enhanced by specialized schools and programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. What stands out most is the district’s responsiveness—adapting at both systemic and individual levels to support student success. Even more inspiring is the dedication of individual teachers who rise to meet students where they are. As Mike Schmoker reminds us, “The most effective way to improve schools is to consistently implement what we already know works.” That spirit of purposeful action is evident every day across Granite.
This week let’s recognize Tayler Khater, principal at Driggs Elementary. Here’s what one of his teachers had to say about him:
“Principal Khater is a wonderful school leader by embodying crucial human characteristics –listening and considering multiple perspectives, having a sense of humor, admitting when a mistake was made, being positive, working extra hard when most needed and knowing when to take a breather and never afraid to make those hard decisions. He always makes connections with every stakeholder in the school—all the staff, students, parents and the community at large. Driggs is a better off because of his presence and engagement here. I think the school has become more cohesive and more balanced because of his leadership—I might even say a happier and more positive place—which is saying a lot because Driggs Elementary is an amazing school.”
