Dear Granite District Parents,
It’s been a pleasure to have your student(s) in our schools this year. As the academic year ends this week, we wanted to send a few summer-related reminders about Information Technology in the district.
Travel Access
Many attempts to compromise Granite’s information security are made by threat actors who are trying to access accounts from IP addresses out of the state. Student accounts are a primary target for threat actors, so student accounts are blocked by default when access is attempted from out of state. Students and parents may submit a travel exception request to be able to access district resources when out of state. At least 2 business days’ prior notice is necessary for this to be set up. Requests can be made by going to https://techhelp.graniteschools.org and clicking on the tile labeled “Travel Exception Request” or click here for the direct link.
We appreciate your help in keeping our data safe from outside threats.

Google Takeout
For individuals who are leaving Granite District at the end of the school year, Granite Google accounts are no longer active or accessible after graduation, retirement, or leaving the district for other reasons. It’s important to backup any data you want to preserve. Allow yourself plenty of time to do this since it can be a lengthy process depending on how much data you will be backing up.
The preferred method of backing up your documents is by using the following instructions for Google Takeout.
If you need assistance with this process, please work with your school Technology Coach or Library Technology Coach.

Afterschool Strict Filtering
With recent changes to YouTube filtering, we’ve adjusted our approach to content filtering on student devices. We currently block all games with the exception of games that are categorized as educational. Parents who wish all games, including educational games, blocked on their student device outside of school hours are asked to contact their school’s principal, who can submit a request on the parents’ behalf.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact your school principal.
