Teachers of the Granite School District, thank you for a remarkable start to this new school year. Your energy, preparation, and dedication have set a strong foundation for the months ahead. Each lesson you plan, each word of encouragement you share, and every bit of effort you invest in your students has an impact far beyond the classroom. As Anthony Muhammad reminds us, “The most significant factor in a child’s education is the effectiveness of the teacher. Great teachers not only change test scores—they change lives.” You are doing that every day, and it deserves to be recognized.
As we reflect on the important work of teaching, we must also recognize the critical role of principals. Principals set the tone, create conditions for success, and provide the support that allows both teachers and students to thrive. Their leadership often happens behind the scenes, yet their influence is felt in every classroom and throughout every school community. We should take more opportunities to recognize and celebrate principals for the countless ways they strengthen schools and magnify the work of teachers and students alike.
This week let’s recognize Josh Leroy, here’s what one of his teachers had to say about him:
“I am nominating Josh for being an outstanding principal because of the incredible leadership he has shown during our transition into the new Cyprus High School building. He has kept us informed every step of the way, communicating timelines clearly and consistently—even throughout the summer. More importantly, he makes sure teachers and staff feel seen, heard, and supported as we work through the challenges of construction and change. His calm guidance and genuine care have made a stressful situation so much more manageable, and it’s clear how much he values both our school and the people in it.”
Thank you, Josh. We appreciate all you do for the Cyprus community!
