Thank you, GSD educators, for the unwavering belief you hold in your students. Each day, you show up with the conviction that every child can learn, grow, and achieve. That belief is powerful. Equally important, however, is your belief in yourselves. The greatest impact on student achievement occurs when educators hold a deep sense of collective efficacy—the shared confidence that we, together, can reach every learner. As educational researcher John Hattie reminds us, “Collective teacher efficacy has the highest effect size of all influences on student achievement.” Your skill, dedication, and persistence matter. When you match your belief in students with an unshakable belief in your own capacity to help them succeed, you become the catalyst for transformational learning. Thank you for the difference you make—every day, for every student.
This week let’s recognize Ryan Shaw, principal of Evergreen Jr High. Here’s what some of his educators had to say about him:
“Ryan Shaw is an exceptional leader who has a clear vision for Evergreen. He communicates well with faculty and the community to facilitate ways to improve Evergreen’s literacy and RISE scores. He also is committed to improving students’ well-being at school. For example, he has initiated an Eagle Hour where students engage with teachers once a quarter by doing something creative and fun. He is always finding new ways to make students at Evergreen feel safe and valued. Ryan is a dedicated administrator who deserves to be recognized for being a caring and visionary leader.”
“Ryan goes above and beyond for our school. He is continually developing new ideas to support students academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the school day. His dedication to student success is evident in everything he does, and he consistently puts in the effort to ensure all students can thrive. Ryan is also an incredible support to teachers. He listens with empathy, helps find meaningful solutions, and stands alongside us as we navigate the challenges of teaching. Since my first year in the classroom, he has been a steady, positive influence on my growth as an educator. We are truly fortunate to have Ryan as our principal. His leadership, compassion, and commitment make our school a stronger and better place for everyone.”
