Teachers, you have my deepest appreciation for the commitment you show each day to ensuring students succeed. The most powerful teaching is not defined only by effort or good intentions, but by a clear focus on results, making sure that every student actually learns and grows. Great educators constantly reflect on their impact, adjust their instruction, and collaborate with colleagues to improve outcomes for students. As education researcher Richard DuFour emphasized, “A focus on results requires educators to judge their effectiveness on the basis of results rather than intentions.” This mindset reflects the professionalism and dedication of teachers who continually strive to improve their craft so that every child has the opportunity to learn at high levels.
This week, we’re pleased to recognize Matt Graham, principal at Eastwood Elementary. Here’s what one of his educators said about him:
“Principal Graham is amazing! Even though he’s new to the school, he’s already made a huge positive impact and brought such a strong presence to our community. His encouraging and supportive attitude is contagious, and it shows in the way he lifts everyone up around him. Mr. Graham is constantly shouting out teachers and students for the great things happening in our classrooms, and those daily celebrations make a big difference! He also hosts weekly lunches with nominated students, creating special moments that students will remember for a long time. As a leader, he treats teachers with respect and trust, empowering us to do our jobs and support our students. At the same time, he’s driven by data and sets high expectations that push our school forward. Communication is another one of his superpowers—whether it’s weekly updates to parents or the monthly newsletter, he keeps our whole community informed and connected. And every day on the announcements he reminds students of something powerful: they can do hard things. On top of all that, he’s working hard to bring new students to our school and grow our community. We’re lucky to have such a dedicated leader guiding the way.”

Thank you, Matt! We truly appreciate all your efforts in supporting your students, educators, and the community of Eastwood Elementary!
