Thank you teachers in the Granite School District. This time of year asks a lot of you. Between preparing students for assessments, navigating critical testing windows, managing the realities of surplus, and already looking ahead to next year, the weight can feel heavy—and at times, impossible to fully carry.
Please know that your work is seen. The impact you are making in the lives of your students is real, lasting, and deeply meaningful, even when the pace and pressure make it hard to see in the moment.
As Carol Dweck reminds us, “Becoming is better than being.” Every day, through your instruction, your relationships, and your persistence, you are helping students grow into who they can become.
Thank you for all you are doing—especially right now.
This week, we’re pleased to recognize Gabe Guadiana, principal at Whittier Elementary. Here’s what some of his educators said about him:
“Gabe is an absolute legend. He came to Whittier from a different school district and has hit the ground running. He has made all of our new staff members feel welcome. He supports teachers with encouragement and humor and positivity. He is a dedicated leader who puts students first. Being a Spanish speaker, he is also able to connect with more MLL students and parents as well. He helps us to foster a school culture built on respect, inclusivity, and student success. This helps support our Whittier community.
He not only supports the educational goals and behavior accomplishments with weekly assemblies, he also lends his hand most days to lunch recess duty, sits on the floor with students, and ensures his staff feels completely supported, wanted, and appreciated. Gabe is very positive in nature, kind, but firm at the same time, just as a great principal should be! He even goes the extra mile to run after students, if needed, or lend a listening to staff in need. We are lucky to have Gabe on our team, even though he likes the Dallas Cowboys.”

Thank you, Gabe! We sincerely appreciate all the effort you put into supporting your students, educators, and the community of Whittier Elementary.
