Dear Granite District Parents,
We wanted to alert you that a proposed amendment to next fall’s (2026-2027) school calendar for Granite District is being considered by the Board of Education.
Tuesday, October 20th, 2026, is proposed to be a Legislative Instructional Exemption Day (Student Non-Attendance Day). The board will vote to approve this change during the June 2nd, 2026 Board of Education meeting. This would add an additional student non-attendance day to the already scheduled fall break.
This will allow an additional half-day of professional development and half-day of planning for teachers early in the school year. A tentative version of this calendar is linked here, and will also be available at the link below after board approval. https://www.graniteschools.org/calendar/.
We appreciate the ongoing feedback our communities provide in relation to the development of our calendars. As a reminder, you can view this link that briefly describes the process by which the calendar is created – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roZFJ_h9BD0.
Thank you,
Granite School District
