This month we are excited to recognize Bonnie Seastrand, the Principal’s Secretary at Truman Elementary. Here’s what her principal had to say about her:
“Bonnie Seastrand is truly the heart and soul of Truman Elementary. Her dedication to our students, families, staff, and community goes far beyond the responsibilities of her position. She is the person who sees a need and simply steps in to help without being asked and without expecting recognition. One of Bonnie’s greatest strengths is her willingness to share her knowledge and support others. She consistently agrees to help train new secretaries, patiently teaching them the many details of their role and helping them feel confident and supported. She is the person staff members seek out when they have a problem because they know Bonnie will listen, help find a solution, and treat them with kindness and respect. Bonnie has built strong relationships with our Truman families and knows many parents by name. Because she lives in our community, her connection to Truman extends well beyond the school day. She keeps an eye on our school property during evenings and weekends and will reach out when she notices something that needs attention. She takes personal ownership in making sure Truman is cared for and that our students, families, and staff have a safe and welcoming place to come each day. Most importantly, Bonnie consistently demonstrates kindness and patience with everyone she encounters. Whether she is helping a student, comforting a worried parent, supporting a staff member, or mentoring a new secretary, she makes people feel valued and cared for. Bonnie’s hard work and dedication have an impact that reaches far beyond the front office. Her reliability and willingness to handle the countless day-to-day details of running a school allow me to spend more time focused on our most important work of teaching and learning. I know that when Bonnie is taking care of something, it will be done with care, compassion, and excellence. Bonnie doesn’t simply go the extra mile, she makes sure everyone else has a path to follow. Truman Elementary is a stronger, more caring school because of her.”
Congrats, Bonnie and thank you for all you do to Go the Extra Mile in all you do!
