Volunteer for Good is an initiative by the Lieutenant Governor of the State of Utah. She is working with Granite School District to ensure every high school student has access to service each school year and students log their service hours in our Volunteer for Good platform, and are recognized for their service.
Students:
Use the link below for your high school to log your service hours, find opportunities and get involved in your local community.
Each month you can keep track of (log your time) your service in and outside of school. Each month/quarter of school has an independent service opportunity that you can sign up for. This is where you will add your service hours each month/quarter. Please add an explanation to the “notes” part of the service so we can keep track of interests and experiences. On the link below you can also find service opportunities within Granite School District, your school, community.
Recognition: Certificates, graduation cords, graduation medallions
- Every student who logs 25 hours in one school year will earn a certificate.
- Class of 2029 students need 100 hours over the course of their high school career to earn the service cord for Volunteer for Good.
- Class of 2028 need 90 hours for a service cord over the course of their high school career to earn the service cord for Volunteer for Good.
- Class of 2027 need 65 hours for a service cord over the course of their high school career to earn the service cord for Volunteer for Good.
- Class of 2026 need 40 hours for a service cord over the course of their high school career to earn the service cord for Volunteer for Good.
Those hours must be logged by May 1st of their graduating year. For more specific details about what counts as service, please see your high school site team for Volunteer for Good. Service hours must be logged the year you do them.
Earn a medallion for graduation (two different ways):
Route 1: Medallion Project is a 40+ hour project. This project must be 40+hours of service and meet a larger need for the community. It must also be long lasting in its impact. You will be required to fill out an application for approval (this is your plan) and fill out a reflection when finished. You can find all of the individual school due dates, and applications in the counseling center of your high school. Interested in doing this? Ask your high school site team for specifics.
Route 2: 200+ hours. Must be logged by May 1st of your graduating year. You must fill out the application for Route 2 by the end of January, saying you will reach the 200+ service hour mark so we can order the correct number of medallions. Record your hours and turn in your reflection by May 1st of your graduating year. Please reach out to your local site team for information. Interested in doing this? Ask your high school site team for specifics.
