Open Enrollment Applications Still Available

Open enrollment is your opportunity to choose the best school for your student’s needs. Whether you’re in or out of Granite School District boundaries, interested in a school with a unique focus or a specialized program, like Dual Language Immersion (DLI), now is the time to explore and apply. Visit our Open Enrollment Information Page or go directly to the Open Enrollment Application (Google Form) to get started.

A new Spanish Dual Language Immersion Magnet School is set to open for the 2025–2026 school year. This innovative magnet school will focus on immersive Spanish instruction and cultural enrichment, providing students with a powerful bilingual education experience. Families can apply for DLI programs, including the new magnet school, through the district’s Dual Language Immersion Application Page.

Sex Education Curriculum Review

The Sex Education Committee has reviewed curricula for use in secondary health classrooms in accordance with Utah Code §53G-10-402; R277-474-6. Public commenting will be available for 30 days prior to formal recommendation for adoption of any materials to the Granite School District Board of Education. Parental feedback helps to improve our ability to provide materials that both adhere to the Utah core standards for health education and engage students in their learning of the standards. • Dr. Tyler Howe, current Granger High Principal, was appointed Assistant Superintendent, effective July 1, 2025
• Nick Blight, current Asst. Principal at Stansbury and Valley Crest Elementary, was appointed Principal of the new Magnet Spanish DLI school, opening Fall 2025.
• The Board voted to accept the Population Analysis Committee’s recommendation and study Area 5 during the coming year for potential school closures and boundary adjustments.
• The Board voted on the 2026–2027 calendar, with school starting August 12, 2026 and ending May 27, 2027.

Receiving Emails in Focus

DID YOU KNOW? Emails sent through Focus may come to you in two different ways. 

Some senders prefer to have an additional layer of security and authentication before the recipient can read their message. Focus allows the sender at the school the option to “secure” an email.  When this is selected, the body section of the email will say, “You have received a secured message,” with a link to log into Focus and view the message. When clicking on the link, the URL will always begin with “https://graniteschools.focusschoolsoftware.com/”

If this option is not checked, the message will appear in both the body of your email and in Focus.

No school for students Friday, February 14 – Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Classes resume Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

District Offices will be closed Monday, February 17, 2025.

English Language Arts Curriculum Review

The 6-8th grade and 9-12th grade instructional materials adoption committees have completed their reviews of secondary English Language Arts (ELA) core curriculum programs. In compliance with the Granite School District (GSD) policy for Learning Materials (PDF), public comment will be available through March 2, 2025. Parental feedback helps to improve our ability to provide materials that both adhere to the Utah ELA core standards and engage students in their learning of the standards.
