Emergency Protocols
Please take a moment to review the district’s emergency response protocols by watching the video below or visiting this link. Communication with parents during emergency protocols will occur as quickly as possible through text messages and emails. Unless directed otherwise, please never come to the school during an emergency protocol.
School Safety
Given recent national events, we would like to remind you how we prepare and train for emergency events in our schools. Please know that the safety and security of every Granite student is our top priority.
First, please click here to watch a short video that explains our emergency protocols in full.
In Granite School District we are fortunate to employ our own police force that provides full-time security and law enforcement support to our campuses. This is especially critical for places where the local municipality does not have a School Resource Officer in place. A police presence on campus mitigates many criminal activities on school property. Granite Police, in conjunction with allied local law enforcement agencies, are continuously evaluating and making necessary adjustments to our safety and security measures.
Student reporting continues to be our most effective protection against unsafe behaviors. If a student sees something, they should say something. Please continue to discuss with your children the ability to report unsafe behavior anonymously through the SafeUT app or by text to (801) 664-2929. Granite Dispatch is available 24/7 at 801-481-7122. Students can also reach out to a teacher or administrator for help with any concerns.
Lastly, we encourage parents to talk with their children about tragedies that may occur locally or across the country, and the critical importance of telling adults about any unsafe behavior they may see. Here is a great resource for beginning the conversation.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact your school principal or call Granite School District at 385-646-4525. Thank you for your support.
September 2nd Reminder
As a reminder, Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, will be a Student Non-Attendance Day based on a change to the calendar that was approved by the board of education earlier this year. This will allow an additional half-day of professional development and half-day of planning for teachers early in the school year. The full calendar is available by clicking here.
We appreciate the ongoing feedback our communities provide in relation to the development of our calendars. An initial calendar preference survey for the 2027/2028 calendar will be distributed in September. As a reminder, you can view this link that briefly describes the process by which the calendar is created.
