Highlights from Granite’s FIRST LEGO League 2017 Qualifying Tournament

Granite School District welcomed 28 FIRST LEGO League teams to the 3rd GSD sponsored qualifying tournament on Saturday January 28th at Granger High School. Students participated in robot games, showed off their ability to work collaboratively on a problem, explained to engineers how they designed and built their robot, and presented a solution in the form of a product or service to enhance the relationship between animals and humans.

Winning trophies were:

Core Values 1st Place: Plymouth Elementary
Core Values 2nd Place: Lake Ridge Elementary
Robot Design 1st Place: Arcadia Elementary
Robot Design 2nd Place: West Lake STEM Jr. High
Project 1st Place: Moss Elementary
Project 2nd Place: Stansbury Elementary
Robot Games 1st Place: Cottonwood Elementary
Robot Games 2nd Place: Valley Jr. High
Championship Team 1st Place: Cottonwood Elementary
Championship Team 2nd Place: Valley Jr. High
Team Spirit: Hartvigsen School
Gracious Professionalism: Monroe Elementary

Eight school teams will be going forward to the state tournament on February 11th at Weber State University. They are Cottonwood, Stansbury, Farnsworth, Arcadia, Monroe, Armstrong Academy, Valley Junior High and West Lake STEM Junior High.
